Results of the Rethinking The Future Global Architecture & Design Awards 2023 have been announced and DSA are proud to be the first prize winner in the Hospitality (Built) category for Jumeirah Gulf of Bahrain Resort and Spa.
The Jumeirah Gulf of Bahrain Resort and Spa is an impressive 5-star luxury resort secluded from the city, which offers a retreat style stay for local and foreign visitors looking for exclusivity. The resort officially opened its doors in November 2022 and is serving as the catalyst for further development along this part of the undeveloped but prestigious coast, with a new public beach completed and related complimentary hotels already planned only a very few kilometres to the north.
The resort is focused on family travel and features a variety of accommodation and entertainment options for its guests; including 406 hotel room keys and villas, and 38 island bungalows. It also features family restaurants, a cinema, a teen room, kids club, conference rooms, several bars and restaurant and lounges, as well as a variety of pools, gyms and luxurious spa facilities. The resort has separate facilities in the restaurant, catering to individualised needs. Personalisation and privacy are important for the guests.
The design provides a simple answer to the client’s vision; to develop a unique leisure experience, during which the guest is infused with cultural hints. With a simple but effective design, the resort provides activities and experiences for guests of all ages focused on wellbeing and nesting in tranquility.
The design of the property is inspired by flowing waters and ripples of the Arabian Gulf, and the rhythm of waves are incorporated throughout the resort. It also boasts ocean views surrounded by greenery and waterways. Rich blue tones and iridescent mother of pearl colours add authenticity to the hotel, reflecting the island’s heritage. The resort, resting on pristine beaches, delivers a secluded oasis away from the hustle of the city.
Jumeirah Gulf of Bahrain Resort and Spa is a development of such strategic significance to the kingdom’s tourism industry. The resort not only strengthens the tourism ecosystem, but it also meets the strict environmental standards, making Bahrain an ecotourism destination for the first time.
